As a Memphis native, Pop superstar Justin Timberlake is no stranger to seeing statues constructed in commemoration of Confederate soldiers.
Now, as those very monuments are being pointed to as painful reminders of America’s dark past of slavery and racial inequality, activists the world over are calling for their removal. On Monday (July 6), Timberlake added his name to the list of people calling for their elimination.
Taking to Instagram, the GRAMMY winner stated:
“There are roughly 1,848 confederate statues of in the U.S.,” Timberlake said. “More than half are in the South, and it’s not acceptable. No one should be protecting the legacies of Confederate leaders and slave owners.”

Justin said it was a mistake and that it wasn’t that serious. He would not have said that if he felt lied to and blindsided. He also said, “I got my wires crossed” when talking about it again in 2018. All of these interviews are on YouTube. Mind you Justin or someone in the organization was trying to get Janet to return with him in 2018. Why would they be having that conversation with Janet unless they knew she was unfairly treated and that the situation, like Justin said, wasn’t that serious?
